Georgian truck driver charged with assault on police officer
The regional investigative office of the Győr Court of Justice has charged a Georgian national for fleeing into Hungary to avoid Slovak police control in December 2021.
The 39-year-old man was driving a truck when Slovak police tried to stop him not far from the Rajka-Cunovo (Dunacsún) crossing in Slovakia, the prosecutor’s office said on Wednesday. The man drove past the police officer at full speed, and drove some 10km long into Hungary, slamming into a police car to avoid control before he was stopped. He then attempted to shove the officers out of his way, the statement said.
The man was charged with assault on a person in official capacity, endangerment on a public road and wilfully causing damage, the statement said.
