Graduate in Hungary and earn EUR 990?
Students often wonder how much of the energy invested in learning will pay off after graduation. In Hungary, gross EUR 990 (HUF 345,468) is the average salary of those newly graduated, according to a recent survey. IT professionals are still the top earners, but graduates of political science and technical programmes can also count on a gross salary of over HUF 400,000.Â
According to Eduline, more than 90% of IT graduates find a job in the field of their degree, and their average monthly gross income is close to HUF 500,000 (EUR 1,433), making them the top earners.
Students of art mediation, pedagogy, and religious training can expect the lowest salary – the average gross salary in the latter three areas is HUF 210-220,000 (EUR 630).
The salaries of teachers are extremely low: the average gross salary is HUF 226,077 (EUR 647).
On the other hand, almost 90% of educators can find employment in their profession.
In the middle field – both on the basis of salary and job corresponding to degree – graduates of Economics, Natural Sciences, Agriculture, Social Sciences, and Arts are found.
The career follow-up research also provided institutional data, according to which Humanities graduates of Eötvös Loránd University, Károli Gáspár Reformed University, and the University of Debrecen can count on the highest salary, with almost gross HUF 300,000 (EUR 860) per month. 55.57% of these graduates can find employment in their profession.
Graduates of Economics, which seem to be a better choice financially for those in the process of continuing their studies on the Master’s level, are earning better, but they are far from mind-blowing starting salaries.
The list is led by Corvinus University of Budapest with an average salary of HUF 450,000 (EUR 1,290), followed by the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, but even there the average salary just exceeds gross HUF 400,000.
The majority earn between HUF 300-400,000, but there are those whose salary does not even reach HUF 300,000.
