The human resources ministry’s public health secretariat has issued first and second-level heat alerts for the whole country and warned of high daytime temperatures continuing until Sunday evening.
The national weather service reported that average temperatures in the coming days could reach or even exceed 25-27 degrees Celsius, especially in north-west and south-east Hungary. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday afternoon highest temperatures are expected to be around 37 C.
In its statement, the ministry warned people to stay away from the sun and avoid intense physical activity if they can and published a list of air-conditioned public places.
