Recently, the Hungarian Confectionery Industry Association have announced the winners of the Magyarország tortája (Cake of Hungary) 2022 competition and the winners are not only pristine looking but are a gastronomic heaven in and of themselves.

It is the 16th time that the Hungarian Confectionery Industry Association has organised the competition that crowns the best and most delicious cake of Hungary each year.

Each time the competition is announced, the Hungarian Confectionery Industry Association is awaiting creative, and of course delicious, cake recipes that revolve around Hungary, its history, culture, and ingredients that evoke the Hungarian cuisine.

The competition is organised for the Hungarian holiday on August 20th, during which Hungarians celebrate the founding of Hungary and the winner of each year’s Cake of Hungary competition can first be tasted by the public.

After the holiday, confectioneries around the country will offer the competition winner so everyone can taste these cake specialties.

According to the association, this year was heavily characterised by the use of poppy seed, sour cherry, Tokaj wines and sour cream.

Sokszínűvidék writes that only natural ingredients can be used to make the competition cakes and all entries were showcased in display cases for the press and professionals at the SIRHA Budapest International food exhibition.
