A major police operation unfolded on Saturday morning in Budapest’s District XI, near Bikás Park, after reports emerged that a man held a woman inside a flat against her will. Authorities, including specialised units and counter-terrorism officers, were deployed to the scene in significant numbers.

According to official information, the incident began at 9:47 AM, when police received a report that a woman was not being allowed to leave an apartment on Etele Road, Kelenföld in Budapest. Patrol officers, detectives from the Criminal Operations Unit, and members of the Counter Terrorism Centre were immediately dispatched, reports 444.hu.

Reports came of a hostage situation

Press reports suggested that the situation escalated into a hostage scenario, with a man allegedly threatening his partner with a knife inside the second-floor flat.
