How to become wealthy very quickly in Hungary

You just have to follow the example of Barbara Rogán. “Who is Barbara Rogán?”, you might ask. Do not worry if you cannot answer the question; very few people in Hungary had an idea up until some days ago.

Her last name might sound familiar, though. Her husband’s last name, to be precise. She is the new wife of Antal Rogán, Member of the National Assembly, the Minister of the Prime Minister’s Cabinet Office, and quite an important politician in the country.

It was not long ago (a little over a year) when the official announcement of Antal Rogán divorcing his ex-wife hit the news (November 2019). Hungarian media over the past years had been full of the amazing and fairytale-like life of Cecília Rogán, who transformed herself from the Minister’s wife into a successful businesswoman, standing behind the Miss Hungary Beauty Pageant, among other projects. Now that they decided to go their separate ways and find happiness with other people, the news exploded just a couple of days ago regarding Antal Rogán’s new marriage that happened quite secretly at the end of 2020.

So secretly that, if it was not for the financial statement of politicians that needs to be transparent and public, we probably would not have heard about the ceremony for a while.

The lucky woman is called Barbara Rogán (Barbara Obrusánszki). She is 20 years younger than her husband, she is from the north of the country, and she is a graduate of Eötvös Loránd University’s (ELTE) Hungarian Faculty. According to Index, she was described as a remarkably pretty woman, so it is not such a surprise that she herself also entered several beauty pageants, even tried her luck as a model.

It seems like she has a sense of business as well. Some weeks before their wedding, Barbara, her parents, a business partner of her father, and a woman from the area signed a huge contract on an enormous piece of territory.

Together, they bought a giant land of 1,022 acres

in the North-East region of Hungary among the mountains in a beautiful environment, partly on a nature reserve.

The transaction has a cost of more than one and a half billion forints (over 4.2 million euros).

The land is so huge that we could fit districts I, V, VI, and VII of Budapest into it. Though it is not a contiguous area, the land comprises almost 209 different properties and a clay mine, for instance.

The family and the partners, however, did not need to dig very deep into their pockets for now, as

95% of the purchase price is paid by a huge loan of one and a half billion forints (4.2 million euros) coming from Budapest Bank,

which was under governmental control at the time of the transaction.  The ownership of all the lands is divided equally among the 5 buyers, making the new bride quite wealthy.

The huge territory used to be owned by three American-Hungarians, all living in the United States under the same address but still owning businesses in Hungary. One of them already had ties to Barbara’s father, who used to work for him as a representative on his Hungarian business matters related to one of his companies registered in Hungary.

444.hu found further documents verifying that this purchase was not the only one the father-in-law of Antal Rogán made weeks before the wedding. He had acquired two other lands of 149 acres total in the area Barbara was born, for more than 182 million forints (around 505 thousand euros). In this case, too, the purchase price is almost completely financed by the same bank.

There is no information whatsoever on whether Barbara concluded any business studies or acquired a qualification in business management of any sort. Regarding the transaction of the lands, all buyers were in a favourable position being residents of the area and being registered as farmers/agriculturists. Quite interesting, however, that 3 of the buyers, namely, Barbara and her parents, were only registered in the land registry three months earlier, in August.

Though Barbara used to work as a model, finding her on social media is impossible, as since news about their marriage got out, both her Facebook and Instagram pages have been deleted. One thing is for sure, Barbara Rogán became a very wealthy woman, owning one-fifth of this huge territory, even before becoming the wife of an already wealthy Hungarian politician.

Be a relative of Orbán’s and you are wealthy, become his friend and you will be wealthy. Simple.
