Huge area in Budapest district evacuated due to a large bomb
A Soviet WWII aerial bomb weighing 100 kg has been found in southern Budapest’s Csepel district, the Hungarian Armed Forces said on Thursday.
The bomb containing a live detonator was found at a closed construction site on Wednesday, the army’s bomb disposal regiment told MTI. In order to ensure the safe transport of the device, it will be deactivated on site and the area will be evacuated within a radius of 100 metres. Interestingly, the bomb was found on Wednesday, but the authorities published information about it only a day later. The deactivation of the device took place this afternoon.
