Hungarian companies have been cleared to export meat to the Philippines for the first time, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjartó said in a post on Facebook on Sunday.
The six companies were licenced for exports of pork, poultry and live animals after “long years of persistent work”, Szijjártó said.
He added that two more companies could be cleared to export after supplementary documentation is submitted.
With over 112 million inhabitants, the market in the Philippines offers “enormous opportunity” for the Hungarian food industry, he added.

Eversince I first visited the Philippines, I have always thought that Hungary had huge potential for exports there, and for that matter, not just the Philippines, but to the rest of South-East Asia, and possibly South Asia as well.
Admittedly, meat was not at the forefront of my mind, but yeah, they would also love all of our fantastic charcuterie products (our Csabai, Gyulai and etc etc).
It’s way past the time our exporters had an Expo of our great porducts in Manila.
