Hungarian singer Rozina Pátkai’s and pianist Dávid Benkő’s song titled “Partokon” (On Shores) debuted on April 26th in the popular series, FBI, on one of the most viewed American television channels, CBS.

According to Telex, the singer, Rozina Pátkai, gave an interview to Hungarian news site Hvg, in which she said that she would never have believed that one of her Hungarian songs would be featured in an action scene of an American television series.

The website of the series says that “from Emmy Award winner Dick Wolf and the team behind the Law & Order brand, FBI is a fast-paced drama about the inner workings of the New York office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This elite unit brings to bear all their talents, intellect and technical expertise on major cases in order to keep New York and the country safe”.

The series is produced by Wolf Entertainment, CBS Studios, and Universal Television with Dick Wolf, Arthur W. Forney, Peter Jankowski, and Turk serving as executive producers. The show first aired on CBS in 2018 on September 25th.

Rozina Pátkai was selected by the director of the FBI television series from several Hungarian performers.

“The song was born several months prior and it was clear that I would like to play it on set with an experienced, great co-performer. I have known pianist Dávid Benkő for quite some time so there was no question that I would like to work with him on this song,” singer Rozina told Hvg.

Rozina Pátkai is a Hungarian singer, songwriter, and visual artist with Italian roots, who has come to the fore with her band playing bossa nova. Since then, they have succeeded in many Hungarian and international competitions.

Rozina became part of the music scene after she graduated as a teacher of English and Hungarian languages in 2009 when she enrolled in a jazz singing degree course at Etűd Music School and Conservatory.

Rozina and her band have been playing since 2010, but they received major attention after 2013 when they played at the Jazz Showcase in the Palace of Arts.

Their first album received a great deal of attention even in the United States.

According to the pianist, Dávid Benkő, the song “Partokon” (On shores) contains both everyday moments and more eloquent motifs, which suit Rozina Pátkai’s clean yet expressive way of performance.

Hvg also highlighted that a live session video was created about the performance, with the help of Bozó Bekő, Ábel Krokovay, Dániel Megyeri, and Lukács Laki, while post-production and voice are done by Márton Fenyvesi.
