Hungarian President nominated Hungary’s new chief prosecutor

Gábor Bálint Nagy, a prosecutor and department head at the public prosecutor’s office, has been nominated as chief prosecutor by President Tamás Sulyok, Sándor Palace, the president’s office, said on Thursday.
Nagy replaces Peter Polt, who has been nominated to the Constitutional Court. The candidate has extensive knowledge and experience in the application of criminal law and the operation of the judiciary.
Nagy started his career as a criminal judge before moving on to various prosecutor roles, also making use of his practical experience on a theoretical level as a lecturer at Pázmány Péter Catholic University, Sándor Palace added.
