Multiple Hungarian universities in the world’s top 5%, one in the top 1%!

Twelve Hungarian universities are in the world’s top five percent, putting them “on the global map,” the minister for culture and innovation said on Wednesday.
Budapest Semmelweis University is now ranked among the world’s top one percent and another three universities in the top two, Balázs Hankó said at Europe Universities Summit in Budapest.
“We have achieved all this in the past few years,” said Hankó, attributing the results to “reforms and a renewed, competitive and autonomous university world”.

He said there was great interest around the world in the renewal of Hungary’s higher education sector, noting that international rankings organisation THE is holding its major European rankings conference in Hungary.
Thanks to these reforms, Hungarian universities have become more autonomous, competitive and successful, the minister said.
