Hungary’s motorway vignette prices will rise again from 1 January 2027, with most fees adjusted in line with the country’s 1.3 per cent inflation rate recorded in August. However, the M1 regional vignette, introduced in connection with the motorway’s renovation, will remain unchanged.
Using Hungary’s motorways won’t get cheaper
For passenger cars in the D1 category, the annual nationwide motorway vignette will cost HUF 62,560 (currently EUR 172), while an annual county pass will be priced at HUF 7,280 (EUR 20). The official 2027 rates for shorter-term D1 vignettes will also increase. A daily pass will cost HUF 5,630 (EUR 15.50), a ten-day vignette HUF 6,990 (EUR 19.22), and a monthly pass HUF 11,320 (EUR 31.10).
Drivers of vehicles in the D2 category will face higher charges. The daily vignette will be priced at HUF 7,990 (around EUR 22), the ten-day pass at HUF 10,170 (almost EUR 28), and the monthly option at HUF 16,030 (EUR 44.07). The annual nationwide entitlement will cost HUF 88,790 (EUR 244.10), while the annual county vignette will be HUF 14,560 (EUR 40).

M1 regional vignette remains unchanged
The M1 regional vignette will continue to cost HUF 15,000 (EUR 41.24) for D1-category vehicles, U-category vehicles and motorcycles. For D2 vehicles, the price will remain HUF 30,000 (EUR 82.50). The regional entitlement covers toll motorways in four counties: Pest, Fejér, Komárom-Esztergom and Győr-Moson-Sopron. The pass was introduced in connection with the renovation of the M1 motorway.
Meanwhile, motorists purchasing a vignette for Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County will lose the discounted rate available in 2026. From next year, the standard county vignette price will apply. Penalties for using toll roads without a valid vignette will also increase. Drivers paying within 60 days will face a surcharge of HUF 28,150 (EUR 77.40), while those settling the penalty after the deadline will have to pay HUF 96,970 (EUR 266.60).
Motorists are advised to consider their regular routes and travel frequency when selecting a vignette for 2027, as the most suitable option may depend on how often and where they use Hungary’s toll road network.
