Learning Hungarian pt 6 – the human body
One of the easiest and fastest ways of learning a language is by getting yourself acquainted with the basic vocabulary items. Are you ready for this week’s vocab lesson?
So far, we have discussed useful phrases to learn as a tourist before arriving in Hungary, the numbers, and some basic grammar, but the body itself has slipped our attention, even though it is among the basics of learning a language.
You can learn the major body parts from these photos, so let us move on to the others that are not illustrated here:
limb(s) = végtag(ok)
face = arc
eye(s) = szem(ek)
nose = orr
mouth = száj
lip, lips = ajak, ajkak
tongue = nyelv
tooth, teeth = fog, fogak
cheek = orca
ear(s) = fül(ek)
hair = haj
thigh = comb
shoulder = váll
Other phrases and adjectives that you can use to describe the body are:
athletic = atletikus
fit = fitt
sporty = sportos
pale = sápadt
tan = napbarnított
freckled = szeplős
slim = karcsú
Something can taste
sweet = édes
sour = savanyú
bitter = keserű
salty = sós
hot = csípős
Adjectives related to hearing are:
loud = hangos
silent = halk
sharp = éles
deafening = fülsüketítő
Adjectives related to sight:
bright = fényes
dark = sötét
clear = világos
Touch-adjectives:
cold = hideg
warm = meleg
hot = forró
wet = nedves
dry = száraz
Words related to smell:
smell = szag
smelly = büdös
scent = illat
