Local elections – Vona: Jobbik Hungary’s strongest opposition party
Budapest, September 18 (MTI) – Radical nationalist Jobbik has now become Hungary’s strongest opposition party, its leader, Gabor Vona, told a press conference in Nyiregyhaza, north-east Hungary, today.
Vona insisted that in light of the failure of leftist parties to cooperate, Jobbik’s leading position was “becoming increasingly clear”.
Vona said that Jobbik had a real chance of challenging ruling Fidesz in the next general election in 2018, but added that the party would need a good showing in the upcoming local elections.
