A new website invites locals and visitors to track down 40 of the tiny, mostly bronze figures that sculptor Mihály Kolodko has placed around Budapest.
Searching is part of the fun. Each entry on Micro Budapest therefore gives only an approximate address, enough to bring you to the right place and leave the figure for you to discover. If you still cannot find it, help is one tap away: the exact GPS coordinates open the spot in OpenStreetMap.
Visitors can browse by district or by theme, from “Hungarian Childhood” and “Politics & History” to “Curious & Touching”, open a map of the 40 selected figures, and use “My Location” to see which one is nearest. Micro Budapest is free to use and available in Hungarian, English, German, French, Greek, Italian and Spanish.
Every location was checked on the spot rather than copied from existing lists. The site also offers a background story for each statue. Kolodko rarely explains his works himself, so these stories are Micro Budapest’s own: independently researched from newspaper articles and Hungarian sources, and the team’s view of what each figure means, not an official explanation.

Most of the statues appear unannounced, and they can be stolen, moved or altered at any time. A news section reports new figures and losses, and three statues are currently marked as missing on the map. The site asks visitors to report anything they notice.
Micro Budapest is a curated selection, not a complete list, and has no connection to the artist.
