More police on Hungarian-Austrian-German joint train patrol
Budapest, August 13 (MTI) – Six more Hungarian police officers are to join patrols on trains headed to western Europe, the national police force (ORFK) said on Thursday.
Around 2,400 people who crossed the border illegally have been caught since the launch of the joint train patrols on Feb. 18.
Hungarian, Austrian and German police are patrolling international trains heading from Hungary through Austria to Germany, as well as at railway stations.
The aim of the patrols is to filter out citizens of third countries who do not meet the requirements to travel within the Schengen area.
With the six additional police joining the patrols on Tuesday, altogether eight Hungarian police officers will participate in the daily checks.
