No more stag parties in Hungary?!

The new Airbnb restrictions have a decisive influence on short-term apartment rentals in Hungary; according to which, the number of people booking the same apartment via Airbnb is maximised to 16.

Since last year, Airbnb has been trying to eliminate properties where short-term tenants are disturbing the local community with loud parties. This year, the company has come to a drastic decision –
Airbnb worldwide bans the organisation of parties and events in properties rented on its platform.
As the Hungarian news portal Pénzcentrum reports, due to lax of regulations concerning parties and nightlife in several countries, many accommodations turned into pubs in the previous years. Based on the announcement published this Monday, since last year, the company has been trying to eliminate properties where short-term tenants are disturbing the local community with loud parties. Furthermore, this is not the only area where restrictions have been introduced.
In the future, the number of people renting the same accommodation at the same time via Airbnb is maximised to 16.
In the past, hosts could authorise such events; furthermore, the Airbnb interface could be explicitly filtered for homes where events were allowed to be held. Due to the pandemic, this possibility was abolished a few months ago; however, for public health reasons, it is now wholly forbidden to organise parties at the accommodations booked on Airbnb.
The company is still working on detailed rules that would still allow events to be organised for larger buildings.
