Nothing hinders fence completion by August 31 deadline, say ministers
Budapest (MTI) – The metal barrier along Hungary’s border with Serbia is being constructed according to schedule and expected to be completed by the August 31 deadline, the interior and defence ministers said after inspecting the site on Sunday.
Sandor Pinter and Csaba Hende visited the section near Morahalom where construction works had begun in July to halt a massive wave of illegal entrants.
Local mayor Zoltan Nogradi told them that the fence had already diverted plenty of illegal migrants. Those who cross the border, however, have become more aggressive and demonstrated passive resistance, he said.
