Péter Magyar: I am reporting Viktor Orbán

A few days ago, Péter Magyar and his party, Tisza, were accused by the government of being foreign agents and of betraying Hungary. Today, Viktor Orbán went so far as to not only make vague accusations but also to claim that he is certain that Péter Magyar is an agent. You can read our longer article on this HERE.

The leader of the strongest opposition party responded to this, and we are publishing his response in its entirety:

I am reporting Viktor Orbán.

Viktor Orbán is sinking deeper and deeper every day. Now he is trying to use the secret services to discredit half the country and the strongest Hungarian political party, simply because he fears for his own power and that of his 3,000 accomplices.

This is a crime similar to praising his new friend, the openly anti-Hungarian Romanian presidential candidate, at the Tihany Abbey.

We will not allow Viktor Orbán to tear the country apart even further and dig even deeper trenches between Hungarians. That is why we are setting off on Wednesday at 11:30 AM on foot from Budapest, from St. Stephen’s Basilica to Nagyvárad, to build a livable and humane Hungary, peacefully, step by step, listening to the Hungarian people. Love and truth always prevail. It will be so now as well.

Tomorrow, I will also file a complaint against Viktor Orbán, because with his latest lie today, he committed two crimes at once, which is unprecedented even in his inglorious political career.

Spreading false rumours

Section 337 § (2) Anyone who, during a period of special legal order, publicly states or spreads false facts or distorts true facts in such a way as to hinder or frustrate the effectiveness of defence shall be punished by imprisonment for one to five years.
If even one word of the prime minister’s ramblings today were true, he should not have made a Facebook video, but should have reported it immediately.

Failure to report a crime against the state

Section 263 § (1) Anyone who obtains credible information that a violent change to the constitutional order, conspiracy against the constitutional order, rebellion, destruction, treason, disloyalty, support for the enemy, espionage, espionage against allied armed forces, espionage against the institutions of the European Union, or that such crimes have been committed but have not yet been uncovered, and fails to report this to the authorities or the competent state body as soon as possible, shall be punished by imprisonment for up to two years.

In a drive to stop Orbán “from tearing the country even further apart”, Magyar announced to start a walk on Wednesday from Budapest to Oradea (Nagyvárad), in Romania, “to build a liveable and humane Hungary step by step, by listening to Hungarians.”
