The snow layer in the upper regions of the Mátra mountain in Hungary reaches 50 centimetres, a Hungarian news outlet wrote today. Therefore, crowds of people went to the Mátra today, causing traffic jams. Some other regions of the country are also covered in snow. Want to experience real winter in 2023? We will show you where to travel in Hungary these days below.

Index.hu wrote this afternoon that many people travelled to the Mátra this morning, resulting in traffic jams on the minor roads leading up to the mountain. The good news is that the ski park in Mátraszentistván opened this morning.

Snowfall was not serious today in Hungary, 1-2 cm fell in the upper regions of North and West. Since the temperature did not go below the freezing point that melted almost immediately. The exceptions are the mountainous regions where locals and tourists can experience a real winter.

On the Kékestető, Hungary’s highest peak (1014m), the snow is 37 centimetres. Although the ski slopes are closed, there are a lot of people wandering in the white paradise.
