The revamped Mol Bubi bike-sharing scheme will be ready to launch fully in a matter of days, Budapest Transport Centre (BKK) said on Thursday.

In a statement to MTI, the company said the public bike system had passed its test period with flying colours, with more than 1,200 users sharing their experiences. Most respondents gave the new generation of the service a positive assessment: overall satisfaction with the system stood at 4.48 out of five, while the new app received a rating of 4.25, the Hungarian news agency wrote.
Some 86 per cent of testers said they would definitely or probably continue using Mol Bubi after the full launch. Electric bikes proved the biggest hit. According to feedback, the main advantages of the system are electric assistance, an easily adjustable saddle, and the speed and simplicity of use.
There was also positive feedback on the new app. Users liked its simple, clear interface, the option to reserve bikes, and the way it quickly and conveniently supports pick-up and drop-off. Respondents said the new app makes the system significantly easier to use.
Additional suggestions and developments
Several suggestions have already led to specific improvements. The statement cited changes to the app’s speed, the display of rental history, and certain map functions.

Some users said the pedalling on the traditional bikes made it harder to reach higher speeds, and that they therefore felt the bikes were less dynamic than in the previous system, the company said. It added that a key consideration in designing the new Mol Bubi was that less experienced cyclists should also be able to travel around the city comfortably and safely, without any particular physical strain, which is why the bikes are primarily tailored to the needs of everyday, short urban journeys. At the same time, based on the feedback received, the BKK is examining options for fine-tuning the drivetrain and gearing.
