Russian diplomat calls for cooperation without sanctions, embargoes
Budapest (MTI) – Europe would need stability based on cooperation without sanctions and embargoes, a Russian diplomat said on Saturday.
The idea of a European collective security system raised by Russia’s leaders several times would be an integral part of such cooperation, Sergei Borozdin, consul-general in Debrecen, in eastern Hungary, told a Victory Day commemoration at the Soviet war memorial in the local cemetery.”The struggle against fascism compelled the nations of the world to lay aside their political and ideological differences and join forces. This would be a must today, too,” he said.
Borozdin stressed the need to tell the truth about the Second World War to future generations.
The consul-general said Russia took a resolute stand against attempts to belittle its role in WWII victory and lay part of the blame for unleashing the war on the Soviet Union.
