Scandal: Hungarian law enforcement officers not insured
Opposition party Mi Hazánk is calling on the interior ministry to comply with its legal obligations and take out an insurance on law enforcement officers, János Lantos, the head of the party’s labour cabinet, said on Saturday.
Lantos said it was a “stunning injustice” that it turned out that the ministry had stopped paying the accident and life insurance policies of law enforcement officers since mid-April.
In the case of law enforcement personnel, their work involves a particularly high risk, which is why it would be justified to take out insurance for them, he said, adding that the law stipulates that the Ministry of the Interior is obliged to do this.
