Reformed Bishop Steinbach: ‘There is hope, there is a future’

The message of the Easter gospel is that there is hope and a future here and now, József Steinbach, the president of the Synod of the Reformed Church in Hungary, said in his Easter Sunday sermon in Balatonalmádi.

“There is no depth from which there is no new beginning, whether in our personal lives, in the life of the church, in our country, or in the chaotic world,” Steinbach said.

“This is what we pass on, and this is the message of joy that the church is proclaims,” he said.

Speaking about the angels’ first Easter sermon — why do you seek the living among the dead? — Steinbach said they announced that the living had defeated death. “He is not here, but has risen; the tomb is empty, as he said it would happen, God has fulfilled his promise,” he added.

The miracle of the resurrection is not to be understood, “it has to be and can be believed,” and can be passed on, the bishop said.
