The importance of strengthening cultural ties within the Visegrád Group
Hungary’s public media plan to intensify cooperation with other countries in the Visegrád Group, namely the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia, the director-general of public-service media provider MTVA said on Tuesday after talks with V4 counterparts.
The aim is to send as many Hungarian participants to cultural events in the V4 countries as possible, as well as the other way round, Miklós Vaszily said.
Public media heads from the V4 meet every six months to discuss current problems and projects, and seek new opportunities for cooperation, he said. The fact that the latest such meeting was held in Visegrád was a symbolic act, he added.
Several projects are underway in cooperation by two or three V4 members and some projects involve all the four.
A new film about the life of Maria Theresa made in Czech-Hungarian-Slovak coproduction will be premiered in the three countries after Christmas.
Common issues of the V4 members are dealt with by weekly radio and television magazines in all the four countries, he said.
