Budapest, August 10 (MTI) – The Sziget festival, which opened its doors on Wednesday, suspended entry to visitors shortly after 1 pm when police were alerted of a suspicious package found outside the entrance gates, Budapest police told MTI.
Explosive experts checked the bag and found no bomb, police said. The abandoned bag was found by Sziget’s security staff at the entrance and they immediately alerted the police.
Entry to the festival was suspended from about 1.45 pm to 2.30 pm and visitors were redirected to nearby streets, the festival’s press chief Viktória Vető said. Traffic nearby was also stopped while the package was under scrutiny.
