The Castle of Sümeg – Hungarian Castles – 4K Video
The Castle of Sümeg can be found in the city of Sümeg on the Balaton-felvidék, Hungary. The construction began in the year of 1260, by the order of the Hungarian king Béla the IV.
The castle was extended and upgraded constantly during the centuries, thus resulting in the strongest stone castle in the region. Its military significance is represented in a very adventurous history. Unfortunately, in 1713 the fortress was a victim of an arson fire. From here on the weather and the neighboring citizens were eroding him until 1960, when a series of reconstructions started, lasting even nowadays.
The castle is open to the public. Interesting programmes are organized here frequently for the visitors.
