US Basketball Player Courtney Vandersloot has become a Hungarian citizen
US-born Courtney Vandersloot took the Hungarian citizenship oath on Monday; she got her passport on Tuesday and she may debut in the Hungarian National Basketball Team at the European Championship qualifiers in November, hungarianambiance.com reports.
Based on information provided by the Hungarian Basketball Association the 173 centimeter tall player was born on February 8, 1989 in the United States. In 2011 she was selected among the top three picks in the WNBA draft from Chicago Sky.
Vandersloot started her European career in 2011 with the Turkish club Besiktas. Currently, she is the player of the Turkish Yakin Dogu Ãœniversitesi, with Hungarian player Anna Vajda.
Most probably, Vandersloot will be debuting in the Hungarian national team on November 19 against Portugal in Pécs.
The Hungarian team currently has three victories and one defeat in its group. The nine group winners and the six best second teams will qualify for next year’s European Championship will be held in the Czech Republic.
