He is only nine years old and David Pressman said he was an avid speed-cuber. The new American ambassador to Hungary arrived on Friday morning to Budapest.
The United States is a friend of Hungary and of the Hungarian people, David Pressman said shortly after his arrival on Friday. Interestingly, he started his first speech in Hungarian. As we reported before, studying Hungarian language was an important part of his preparation in the USA. They even shared a video of his progress that you can watch HERE.
He also mentioned on Friday that his son was a huge fan of Ernő Rubik, the Hungarian creator of the Rubik’s cube. The cube conquered the world markets in the early 1980s and is still a popular toy all around the world. Interestingly, the original patent of Ernő Rubik expired in 2000. Following that, other brands of cubes appeared, especially from Chinese companies, Wikipedia says.

“My son — an avid speed-cuber — is thrilled to be in the land of innovators like Ernő Rubik. He made sure one of our first stops in Budapest was to a local Rubik’s cube shop in order to pay homage”, US Ambassador Pressman said on Twitter. The proud father said before that his son solved a cube used on competitions in only 30 seconds.
