Budapest, May 14 (MTI) – Sandor Csanyi, owner of the agribusiness Bonafarm and head of OTP Bank, is still Hungary’s richest man, according to a list compiled by business news portal Napi.hu.
Csanyi, whose assets now reach 165 billion forints (EUR 542m), up 15 billion from last year, has been at the top of the list since 2011.
Runner-up is Laszlo Bige, in the artificial fertiliser business, with assets of 160 billion forints, the paper said.
Bige is followed by Gabor Varszegi, who owns holding company Fotex and has assets of 115 billion forints.
Next on the list is construction industry magnate Sandor Demjan, with assets of 93 billion forints, and Gabor Szeles, who owns original equipment manufacturer Videoton, with assets of 92 billion forints.
The assets of last year’s third-richest Hungarian, Gyorgy Gattyan, who made a fortune in online erotica, fell from 135 billion to 90 billion forints, after the tax office froze some of his assets while conducting an audit, the paper said.
