Who does not love a good proposal story? A groom got pretty creative in Budapest and arranged a secret proposal at one of Budapest’s best restaurants: Borkonyha, ATV.hu reports. The proposal involved a huge scene and heated argumentation in the Michelin-starred restaurant.
It all happened a couple of weeks ago. Ákos Sárközi, Michelin-starred chef of Borkonyha told ATV.hu:
“A young man approached me on Facebook, asking me to help him propose to his girlfriend. We came up with the plan: they come to the restaurant, he starts complaining about the food very loudly, he causes such a scene that I come out of the kitchen to handle the situation.”
Everything went as planned; the couple arrived at the restaurant. The man acted very condescendingly towards the waiter, and he loudly complained about the “inedible” meal that was served to him. When the chef went out to see what the problem was, the man got louder.
The two started a passionate and pretty loud argument in the middle of the restaurant. The chef pretended to be insulted by the rude complainer who dared to criticise his dish. The whole restaurant stood still. The other guests did not dare to make any noise. The girlfriend felt really embarrassed by the scene, as she recognised the famous Michelin-starred chef.
Then came the twist: Ákos Sárközi said to the man: “Ok, I will try to make up for the bad meal.” Then he got out the engagement ring and the guy proposed to his girlfriend. The whole restaurant applauded, and the girlfriend seemed really happy.
Ákos Sárközi told ATV.hu:
“I was really glad that I could help with one of the most important events in someone’s life. I was really happy that he asked me to do this.”
Borkonyha is one of the four Michelin-starred restaurants located in Budapest. The other three are Costes, Costes Downtown and Onyx. Borkonyha is a fusion of a French bistro and a contemporary Hungarian family restaurant. The fine dining experience is guaranteed. Ákos Sárközi has been leading the kitchen of Borkonyha since 2010.
