4th world meeting of Hungarian Baptists begins in Debrecen
The fourth world meeting of Hungarian Baptists began in Debrecen on Friday; the event is expected to be attended by about 10,000 participants.
Speaking at a press conference on the first day of the event, Paul Msiza, the president of the Baptist World Alliance, said they were pleased to join Hungary’s Christian community commemorating the 500th anniversary of Reformation in Europe. He noted that the Baptist World Alliance, established in 1905 as “the church of Jesus Christ” has more than 100 million members in 125 countries.
István Gergely, the vice president of the World Alliance of Hungarian Baptists, highlighted the 20th anniversary of the foundation of the organisation.
The 3rd world meeting of Hungarian Baptists was also held in Debrecen, in 2006.
