Reconstructed organ of Liszt Music Academy inaugurated
The Voit-organ of Budapest’s Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music was inaugurated after reconstruction and played in a concert for the first time since 1967 on Saturday evening.
The reconstruction of the four-manual, 74-stop pipe organ was funded by a 800 million forint (EUR 2.4m) government grant.
House Speaker László Kövér said at the inauguration that the Hungarian state has allocated 640 billion forints to major cultural investments since 2010, 70 of which have already been concluded and 90 are in progress.
At the concert, organists István Ruppert, Balázs Szabó, János Palur and László Fassang performed works by Liszt, Erkel, Richard Strauss, Kodály and Reger.
