Hungarian opposition accuses govt of waging political campaign to ‘punish’ local councils
Six opposition parties published a joint statement on Tuesday accusing the government of pursuing a political campaign aimed at “punishing local councils” run by the opposition, especially the administration of Budapest.
DK, Jobbik, LMP, Momentum, the Socialists and Párbeszéd accused the Orban government of curbing the powers of local governments in an “unprincipled and senseless” way, thereby hurting several million Hungarians.
The statement said it was the “duty” of local governments to inform citizens that at least 100 billion forints (EUR 280m) was being taken away from them in an “arbitrary and politically motivated” way.
It added that the Orbán government was the only central administration in Europe that was “robbing local councils of their last remaining income” instead of supporting them at the time of the coronavirus epidemic and the current crisis.
The opposition parties insisted that the government was ploughing hundreds of billions of forints of public money into private foundations and “funding their own power and economic interests”.
The parties said “after a change of government in 2022, the democratic opposition alliance will restore local government, the autonomy of towns and villages, and will ensure financing goes to local governments free of political considerations”.
As we wrote yesterday, the municipal government of Budapest is launching an information campaign with a view to providing a picture of the situation in the capital, details HERE.

Several Hungarian opposition political parties – ‘the usual suspects’ – suffer from a severe case of verbal diarrhoea.
Apart from the all-encompassing so-called D.K. (or DOBREV KLARA) party, various fools from JOBBIK (a true cesspits for idiots), LMP (with a certain SCHMUCK as its regular spokeswoman), MOMENTUM (a group of ‘rabble-rousers’ if ever there was one !), PARBESZED (the party to which COMRADE COMMISSAR KARACSONY belongs) and the SOCIALISTS (read NEO-COMMUNISTS) all want to exercise their extremely limited mental abilities by objecting to EVERYTHING undertaken by the ruling Hungarian Government [which by the way has now been elected on several occasions with an OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of Hungarian voters !!] and then even more.
The problem for these individuals – whose combined I.Q. is probably less than that of two budgies in a bird-cage – is the faeculent matter they continually spew smells revolting and does absolutely
nothing to further their insatiable desire for political power.
Their most recent campaign to convince voters that local business taxes must be INCREASED – during the worst pandemic the world has experienced in over a hundred years – is just ONE example of this stupidity.
Do these political has-beens / misfits honestly believe that a majority of Budapest’s citizens give one iota about Comrade Karacsony’s pet-project [an ILLUMINATED / AIR-CONDITIONED bicycle path linking Budapest to Vienna], yet alone the other zany ideas suggested by local council leaders to ‘stimulate’ the economy ??
Most Hungarians – and in this respect they are no different to citizens of other countries – only worry about how much money they have to spend, whilst businesses will ONLY remain operational if the profit generated after expenses and taxes is sufficient to justify keeping the business open.
The petty bureaucrats within local / city / regional councils – and various political aspirants from within those closed ranks – are SO REMOVED from these realities that they might as well be living on the International Space Station.
These are the same PATHETIC MORONS who are desperately trying to present themselves – under the combined ‘leadership’ of Hungary’s WORST Prime Minister ever – as an ‘alternative Government’ !!
Maybe a packet of LOPERAMIDE HYDROCHLORIDE (used for relief of diarrhoea) should be handed out by these LOONIES together with their ‘how-to-vote’ pamphlets, as well as a telephone number provided with all their internet / newspaper / radio / television ads which poor suffering members of the public can ring to obtain their free box(es).
PLEASE – no more diarrhoea !
The last thing Hungary needs right now is ANOTHER ‘run’ (pardon the pun) on TOILET PAPER !!!
