VIDEO: Hungarian Boglárka Takács sprints to national record at European Athletics Team Championships!

Hungarian sprinter Boglárka Takács delivered a sensational performance at the European Athletics Team Championships in Madrid, winning the women’s 100 metres with a new national record of 11.06 seconds. This not only secured her victory but also qualified her for the upcoming World Championships in Tokyo.
Stellar performance from Takács
Boglárka Takács, who has shown steadily improving form in recent weeks, faced a strong field including Italy’s Zaynab Dosso and Poland’s Ewa Swoboda. Despite a slightly slower start, she accelerated powerfully after the 20-metre mark and left her rivals behind, finishing with a wide margin.
With this run, Takács broke her own previous national record set at the Tokyo Olympics and also set a new championship record. “I trusted that I could break the national record and that it would be enough to win. I was a bit nervous, but I think I managed a confident race,” she said after her victory, 24.hu reports.
Hungarians shone in the championship
Hungarian athletes shone across the board. Patrik Enyingi matched the national record in the men’s 400 metres, finishing third with a time of 44.84 seconds, while hammer thrower Bence Halász secured third place with a throw over 80 metres.
Dominik Illovszky equalled his personal best in the men’s 100 metres, finishing sixth overall, and István Palkovits ran a season’s best in the men’s 3000m steeplechase, placing seventh. Dániel Szenderffy finished fifth in the men’s triple jump, and Dóra Kerekes achieved a season’s best in the women’s discus throw.
After these impressive results, Hungary stands ninth in the team rankings, reflecting a strong collective effort led by Boglárka Takács’s record-breaking sprint.
