Temporary traffic restrictions will be in place around Budapest’s cemeteries from Friday until Sunday evening ahead of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, the Budapest Police Headquarters (BRFK) has announced on its official website.
The measures will include road closures, one-way traffic systems, parking bans and restrictions on turning, so motorists should plan their journeys carefully over the weekend.

- District XVIII: Reményik Sándor utca.

Several streets will become one-way

Parking bans and turning restrictions
From Friday, parking will be prohibited on designated sections of roads leading to several cemeteries.
At the New Public Cemetery in Rákoskeresztúr, the restrictions will affect Sírkert út and Kozma utca. Other affected locations include Zala György utca in Rákospalota, Nefelejcs utca in Pestszentlőrinc, and sections of Darányi Ignác utca, Kassa utca, Kolozsvár utca and Temető köz in Kispest.
Around the Pesterzsébet Cemetery, parking will be prohibited on designated sections of Tartsay utca, Külső Vörösmarty utca, Vasfű utca and Temetősor.
Restrictions will also apply near Farkasréti Cemetery, affecting sections of Hegyalja út, Németvölgyi út and Érdi út, as well as Márton Áron tér.
There will be some changes to existing parking rules, too. From Saturday morning, parking restrictions will be lifted on Nagykőbánya utca in District XXII and Megyeri út in District IV.
In District XV, drivers will not be allowed to turn left from Zala György utca onto Szentmihályi út.

Police urge motorists to take extra care
The police are asking drivers to exercise particular caution around cemeteries and comply with the temporary traffic arrangements.
All Saints’ Day falls on 1 November, while All Souls’ Day is observed on 2 November in the Christian tradition. Both occasions traditionally bring increased visitor numbers to cemeteries as people pay their respects to deceased relatives and friends.
