The structural refurbishment of the Flórián Square flyovers in Budapest was completed at the end of August, and all associated reinstatement and defect rectification works have now also been completed.
The worksite has been cleared, equipment and materials have been removed, and the surface-level junction has been restored, meaning that all works related to the project have now been completed. The technical handover and acceptance procedure was concluded on 7 October.
Flórián Square flyovers finally complete
The works, commissioned by BKK and carried out by KM Építő Kft. as the general contractor, were limited in September to minor defect rectification, aesthetic reinstatement and road construction works. These included the repair, replacement and reinstatement of the existing stone cladding on the bridge abutments, as well as the necessary minor road construction works.
The restoration of the surface-level junction was completed with the removal of temporary traffic management measures and diversions. Temporary arrangements – such as the U-turn facility on Pacsirtamező Street – helped maintain traffic during the refurbishment, but have now been removed following completion of the works. The final technical handover and acceptance procedure has been concluded.
The bus priority measures introduced as part of the refurbishment will, however, remain in place on Szentendrei Road and Pacsirtamező Street after the completion of the works. BKK thanks road users and local residents for their patience, cooperation and understanding throughout the works.

A vital transport link in Budapest has been renewed
The refurbishment of the Flórián Square flyovers became necessary due to their significant deterioration. The bridges play a key role in transport between Budapest and the surrounding agglomeration. The works began on the southern flyover in March 2025 and continued with the northern flyover in November 2025. The southern flyover was reopened to motor traffic in November 2025, while the northern flyover reopened on 30 August 2026.
This marked the completion of the structural refurbishment of both flyovers. With the subsequent reinstatement, defect rectification and road construction works now also complete, the entire project has been brought to a close. BKK provided continuous updates on the progress of the works on their website, while details of the refurbishment and its key milestones were outlined in the press release issued when the northern flyover reopened.
