Companies collect 30 tonnes of food for needy families on World Food Day
Twenty-one Hungarian and international companies have collected food donations amounting to 30 tonnes on the occasion of World Food Day, to be distributed among needy families.
The initiative was organised by the Hungarian Food Bank and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), for the 13th time this year,
to call public attention to millions starving globally and warn against wasting food.
According to FAO, the amount of food produced globally would be sufficient for the whole population, still, some 820 million people, or one in nine people, are permanently starving, while one third of the food products ends up in the waste.
