Two men brawled in the car park of a fast-food restaurant in Pesterzsébet, Budapest, on Sunday, with one allegedly firing a shot from a gas signal weapon before being arrested by police nearby, authorities said on Monday.
According to investigators, the 30-year-old man, identified as Attila G., exchanged words with another man in the car park of a hospitality venue in Pesterzsébet before the pair came to blows. During the altercation, Attila G. produced a gas signal weapon and fired one shot, prompting alarm among customers and witnesses, police said.
He fled the scene to a nearby bakery, where district officers arrested him within minutes and recovered the weapon along his route. The other participant drove away in a car before patrols arrived and is still being sought. The man was taken to the XX and XXIII District Police Headquarters in Budapest and questioned on suspicion of violent disorder committed while armed.
