A diplomatic reception in Budapest brought together more than 30 diplomatic representatives on 11 June at The Duchess Rooftop Bar in Matild Palace, offering an elegant setting for informal discussions, networking and the strengthening of international relations in the Hungarian capital.
The exclusive evening was hosted by FirstMed and Daily News Hungary, with embassy representatives attending from a wide range of countries. The event was designed as a relaxed yet professional gathering where members of Budapest’s diplomatic community could meet, exchange ideas and build new connections outside the formal framework of official meetings.

The reception began at 6:00 PM with a welcome gathering, followed by brief remarks from the hosts. The programme then continued with an open networking session, allowing guests to speak in a more personal and informal atmosphere.
In his welcome address, Dennis A. Diokno, Founder and CEO of FirstMed, thanked the guests for attending and highlighted the long-standing relationship between the clinic and Hungary’s international community.
Diokno recalled that he founded FirstMed in Budapest more than 27 years ago with a clear purpose: to provide high-quality, international-standard healthcare to foreign residents, diplomats, embassy staff and their families living in Hungary.

“Over the years, we have been privileged to care for diplomats, embassy staff, their families, and citizens from many of the countries represented here tonight,” he said, underlining that FirstMed remains grateful for the trust placed in it by members of the diplomatic community.
He added that the evening was also an opportunity to reconnect with old friends, make new acquaintances and reaffirm FirstMed’s commitment to serving Budapest’s international residents.

Daily News Hungary plans further community events
Speaking on behalf of Daily News Hungary, owner Alpár Kató thanked the attending embassies for their high-level representation and for their continued interest in the work of the media group.
Kató said that Daily News Hungary is not only committed to informing its international readership online, but also aims to strengthen real-life connections with readers, partners and members of the wider diplomatic and business communities in Hungary.

He noted that, with the support of FirstMed and an additional partner, Daily News Hungary is expected to organise further events from September. These planned gatherings will aim to deepen existing relationships, create new opportunities for dialogue and bring together people who are connected through international life in Hungary.
The initiative reflects DNH Media Group’s broader ambition to serve as a bridge between Hungary and the international community, offering news, background, practical information and networking opportunities for foreigners living in or connected to the country.

An elegant evening above Budapest
The choice of venue also contributed to the atmosphere of the event. The Duchess Rooftop Bar, located in Matild Palace, provided a refined setting above the city, combining Budapest’s historic architecture with a modern social environment.
