Great news for Ukrainian refugees! Free travel on Budapest public transport extended
The possibility of free travel on Budapest public transport has been extended for Ukrainian refugees until December 31 this year, Budapest transport centre BKK said on Monday.
In line with the scheme initiated by the Budapest metropolitan council, travel will remain free for those holding Ukrainian identification documents, including passports, ID cards or residence permits, BKK said in a statement. Foreign students from Ukraine can travel free in Budapest if they can show their Ukrainian student card or any other document showing their address in Ukraine.
Free travel for Ukrainians was first introduced on March 4 of this year and it applies to all BKK services, the airport shuttle 100E service, the funicular in the Buda Castle, “nostalgia” transport services and boats, and the suburban railways HEV and all suburban “blue” bus services within the borders of the capital.
