Several terrible accidents happened in Hungary in the span of only one day: two accidents at two separate airports, a motorbike accident, and a car running over a man.
A man died when his parachute did not open during a group jump in Börgönd, Székesfehérvár. On Friday afternoon, a group of parachutists carried out a group jump at the airport in Börgönd. One man’s parachute did not open properly, and he hit the ground at high speed, police.hu reports.
When he realised that his parachute had not opened, he tried to land with the reserve parachute but failed. The 50-year-old man suffered such serious injuries that he died at the scene.
The Fejér County police launched criminal proceedings in the case, as 444.hu reports. A spokesman for the authority told MTI that the accident was probably caused by a parachute malfunction.
Another brutal accident happened at yet another airport: in Balatonfőkajár, after take-off, a gyrocopter crashed back to the ground and caught fire. The gyrocopter flipped on its side and fell to the ground.
The firefighters of the municipality of Polgárdi, who were alerted to the scene (under the guidance of the Veszprém County Disaster Management Operational Service), extinguished the burning and smouldering parts with a water jet.
There was one person in the aircraft who left the vehicle after landing. He was injured and was taken to hospital by the paramedics, baleset-info.hu reports.
On Friday at 8:50 pm in Zagyvaszántó, on Rákóczi Ferenc Road, a man on a motorbike drove into a ditch and crashed into a fence, police.hu reports.
According to the police statement, the 51-year-old man died at the scene of the accident.
The police have completed the investigation, the Hatvan Police Station is investigating the further circumstances of the accident, according to 24.hu.
A fatal accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning in Nagykőrös. A 34-year-old local man hit a 28-year-old man under as yet unclear circumstances.
According to police, the man who was hit died.
As Index writes, the driver was breathalysed and tested positive for alcohol, so further samples were taken, and the circumstances of the accident are being investigated.
As we reported before, a young World Champion skydiver had a horrible accident back in April. During a jumping exercise, Szabolcs Gál crashed into the ground of a meadow at a speed of 100 km/h.
Sadly, the 32-year-old man died two weeks later.
