House speaker holds talks with Saxon parliament speaker
Budapest, June 10 (MTI) – House Speaker László Kövér held talks with Matthias Roessler, president of the Saxon state parliament, in Budapest on Friday, the press chief of Hungary’s parliament said.
They discussed a conference the Saxon parliamentary forum for central Europe will organise in the Hungarian Parliament on September 23 this year, Zoltán Szilágyi told MTI.
Kövér called it a great honour that the forum has chosen Budapest as the venue of the conference focusing on the region’s past, present and future in the year that marks the 60th anniversary of Hungary’s 1956 anti-Soviet revolution.
“Joint commemorations are particularly important at a time when the values and the survival of central Europe’s culture we fought for in 1956 are at danger,” Kövér said.
