How the Slovak-Hungarian border can change

Slovakia

According to origo.hu, Slovakia and Hungary can change an area of 17 hectares mutually – a document says which was submitted to the Government by the Slovak Interior Ministry.

According to the document which is called Recommendation in respect of the border agreement between the Slovak Republic and Hungary, the change is because of water management – ujszo.com said. The document must be approved by the Slovakian Parliament and the Hungarian state bodies as well.

The land change is justified by the changes of the River Ipel (Ipoly) riverbed, and that, for example, the sewer network of Somoskoujfalu extends Slovak territory.

According to the draft, the land swap would affect the following villages: Leled, Ipolyszalka, Ipolykiskeszi, Ipolyszakallos, Szete, Ipolysag, Satorosbanya.
