Customers of OTP, MBH and Erste should prepare for several scheduled IT maintenance periods over the coming weeks. Depending on the institute and the time of the work, card payments, bank transfers, online and mobile banking services may temporarily be unavailable.

Customers planning important payments are advised to check the relevant maintenance periods in advance.

OTP: card payments to be suspended

OTP will carry out maintenance on its card payment system from 1 AM on 25 August, with the disruption expected to last around 90 minutes. During this period, transactions will not be possible through either POS terminals or online payment platforms. OTP-branded cards will also be unavailable for payments and cash withdrawals.

A separate maintenance period will affect the bank’s Persely savings service on 30 August, when the service is expected to be unavailable throughout the day.

MBH announces several maintenance periods

MBH customers face a series of disruptions affecting different services. On 27 August from 7.30 PM to 10 PM, functions related to applying for and managing personal loans will be unavailable in the MBH Bank mobile app.

Later that evening, from 10 PM on 27 August until 2 AM on 28 August, SMS messages required for two-factor authentication on the MBH Netbroker and Mobilbroker platforms may be affected. Further maintenance will take place from 10 PM on 28 August until 2 AM on 29 August, when MBH’s Netbroker and Mobilbroker investment platforms may only be available with limited functionality.

On 5 September between 4 AM and 11 AM, the former Budapest Bank Netbank service will operate with reduced functionality, while securities-related features will be unavailable. The most extensive MBH disruption currently scheduled will run from 10 PM on 28 September until 3.59 AM on 29 September.

During this period, the MBH Bank App’s 101 banking profile and MBH Netbank may be unavailable or operate with limited functionality. Customers will not be able to initiate transactions through these services, and in-app transaction approval will also be unavailable. Online card purchases can still be authorised during the disruption, but customers will temporarily need to use an SMS confirmation code instead of app-based approval.

Erste customers face two longer outages

Erste has announced two significant system maintenance periods. The first will run from 10 PM on 18 September until 10 AM on 19 September, while the second is scheduled from 10 PM on 1 October until 3 AM on 2 October.

During these periods, several important services will be unavailable, including George App and Web, TeleBank, corporate online banking services, Electra and Erste Business MobilBank. Customers will also be unable to initiate instant transfers.

During the first maintenance period, online shopping will also be unavailable from 10 PM on 18 September until 10 AM the following day. The receipt of instant transfers will be interrupted between midnight and 4 AM on 19 September. However, according to Erste’s notice, card payments at Point of Sale terminals and domestic ATM cash withdrawals and deposits will remain available during the maintenance.

With several disruptions scheduled across three major Hungarian financial establishments, customers should consider completing important transfers or other banking tasks outside the affected periods and ensure they have alternative payment options available where necessary.
