Hungarian consumer protection orders an extraordinary investigation against Ryanair

The justice ministry on Tuesday rejected what it called low-cost airline Ryanair’s attempt to pass the recently introduced windfall tax on to customers, saying the company was after further excessive profits.

The ministry called it “preposterous” that Ryanair had raised prices retroactively on tickets purchased before the tax on excessive profits was introduced.

Companies should assume the burden of the tax without placing it on Hungarians “who shouldn’t be made to pay the price of war”, the statement said.

The ministry also called on Ryanair to apologise “for its tone towards the Hungarian government” which, it added, seemed typical of its tone towards passengers, too, judging by their complaints.

To prevent any further breaches of the law, an investigation is being pursued in view of the large number and weight of complaints, the statement said, adding that growing demand for travel after the coronavirus pandemic could result in more abuses with regard to passengers.

The minister responsible for consumer protection is also launching an investigation of the company, it added.

Ryanair, being “defaced” wrongly – its 5 star rating as a Cheap Price Airline Operator, by the present Hungarian Government.
This on-going attitude, by this present Government, when rightly Shamed & Embarrassed, when they make decisions, that are clearly of a Dictatorial “dogma” – continues to be quite Deplorable.
We are Right – Do it our Way or No Way – then when rightfully CHALLENGED, transfer the matter into a, we are a “Holier than thou” arguement, and you, the questioner, who do you think you are, and what right do you have, to express or take a position, to what we say will HAPPEN.
The Fidesz Party – Government of Hungary, under the present leadership of the Hungarian Prime Minister – Victor Orban “thrive” on POWER through a Dictatorial – one way our way – whats in it for US firstly then the “left overs” – we will decide the process of hand on’s or hand me downs.
It is GROWING this Dictatorial “dogma” – by this Government in Hungary, and as the Economic & Financial down trending of Hungary continues to worsen, citizens will “bear witness” to and be greater victims of this “styled” – Dictatorial Government.
Ryanair – does appear this situation is WORSENING and suggests, they may look at other places and runways, that they will receive greater Respect and have a Voice, and that is of greater appreciation, than they have received by this present Hungarian Government.
