A 28-year-old Hungarian-Ukrainian dual national wanted in connection with robbery and drug possession has been arrested in the Czech Republic following a joint operation by Hungarian and Czech police.
He was recently added to the Top 50 list
The man, identified as Dániel B., was apprehended on 27 October at a factory near Brno, after investigators tracked down his suspected whereabouts and workplace. He had recently been added to Hungary’s list of the country’s 50 most wanted fugitives.
According to Hungarian police, arrest warrants had been issued against him in connection with separate criminal proceedings. The Budapest-Central District Court issued a warrant in February in a drug possession case, while the Budapest-Capital Regional Court issued another in connection with a robbery for which a final conviction had already been handed down.
Convicted over violent robbery in Budapest
Dániel B. was sentenced to several years in prison after robbing a foreign national in Budapest in September 2025. He allegedly snatched the victim’s bag by force and attacked the individual when they tried to recover it. After leaving the scene, the man reportedly returned several hours later and broke into multiple parked cars. A relative of the robbery victim recognised him and managed to detain him until police arrived.
He was supposed to have reported to prison months ago to serve his sentence but failed to do so. Jászberény police began searching for him in September, and European and international arrest warrants were issued in early October. His name was subsequently added to the top 50 wanted list.

Hungarian and Czech police worked together
Given the suspect’s dual nationality, investigators considered the possibility that he had left Hungary. The National Bureau of Investigation’s fugitive-hunting unit joined the search and established that he might be hiding in the Czech Republic.
Hungarian investigators then contacted their Czech counterparts through the European Network of Fugitive Active Search Teams (ENFAST), sharing the information they had gathered. Czech police established that the suspect had previously held a residence permit in the country.
The joint investigation led officers to a factory near Brno, where the man was arrested on the morning of 27 October. He was taken into custody by Czech police. Extradition proceedings are now under way, and a Czech court is expected to decide his fate within days.
