Will Hungarian armed forces intervene in Bosnia-Herzegovina to help Serbian leader Dodik? Here’s the government’s reaction

A claim by the left wing that the Hungarian government wants to intervene in a potential conflict in the Balkans “in any way and on any side is a blatant lie”, foreign ministry state secretary Levente Magyar said on Thursday.
Bosnia intervention a blatant lie
Magyar said in a post on Facebook that in recent weeks several reports were published in the Hungarian media and by people on the left claiming that during a visit in Bosnia-Herzegovina he had said that war broke out in the Balkans, Hungary would not stay out of it but participate on the side of Serbia.
“In politics one must live with untrue statements being spread from time to time, so you don’t hurry to refute all the disinformation. It would be impossible. But since the opposition is now building a campaign on my alleged statement in order to discredit the government’s pro-peace policies, clearing this up can’t wait any longer,” he said. “What the Hungarian left wing claims is a blatant lie,” he added.
“I have never said either in Bosnia or anywhere else that Hungary would want to intervene in a potential Balkans conflict in any way on anyone’s side. To the contrary: what I said was that we are maintaining active diplomacy in the interest of preserving the stability and peace of the Balkans, because Hungary cannot afford not to prevent the buildup of tensions again that resulted in war several times in the past which affected us too,” he said.
