The F1 Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia got underway today, with Festipay technology once again providing fast and secure cashless payment at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) event.
The partnership between Festipay and Bahrain International Circuit began in 2024, when the Bahrain Formula 1 circuit selected BIC PAY, a system developed by the Hungarian company, to introduce cashless payment. Since then, the system has continued to evolve, and today the event operates with a hybrid payment solution: visitors can pay both by bank card and with RFID-enabled BIC cards manufactured by Festipay.
The system is designed to provide more than one hundred thousand visitors with a fast, simple and secure payment option, while also providing merchants with an efficient and integrated sales solution.

More than 200 Festipay devices are operating at the circuit near Kuala Lumpur, with the entire technological infrastructure supported by a 12-member team of Hungarian professionals. The Hungarian-developed and operated system therefore contributes to the visitor experience and the smooth running of one of the world’s largest motorsport events.

“Our partnership launched in Bahrain in 2024 and, following its success in the Middle East and Hungary, our enhanced hybrid payment system is now proving itself in Southeast Asia as well. The combination of bank card and RFID-based payment at this level of security and reliability is a unique solution and the result of 100% Hungarian software engineering,” said Attila Solti, CEO of Festipay Zrt.
For Festipay, this race is more than just another international venue: the introduction of the system in Bahrain in 2024 was an important milestone in the company’s expansion into the Middle East. Since then, the BIC PAY system has continued to demonstrate that Hungarian-developed event technology can operate reliably at some of the world’s largest and most complex events.

At the Hungaroring, during the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix and other races, the Festipay system is also used as the exclusive payment solution.
