President János Áder has expressed his condolences to Greek counterpart Prokopis Pavlopoulos in connection with the forest fires in Greece.

In the message forwarded by Áder’s office to MTI on Wednesday, Áder said he was deeply shocked to learn about the natural disaster that has ravaged the region of Attica, claiming nearly a hundred lives and causing enormous damage.

On behalf of the Hungarian people, he expressed condolences to the families and friends of the victims and wished quick recovery to those injured.

He expressed hope that in the aftermath of the fires, local residents would soon be able to return to their normal lives.
